Inspired through the Supremes, Sparkle is a remake from the 1976 film of the identical name, which dedicated to three singing teenage sisters from Harlem who form a woman group in the late 1950s. The remake happens in Detroit, Michigan in the 1960s during the Motown era.

Synopsis: Musical prodigy Sparkle struggles to become a star while overcoming problems that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to some single mother, she attempts to balance a brand new romance with music manager, Stix while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life brings as she and her two sisters strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.

Release: In December 2011, Sony announced the United States release date for "Sparkle" could be set for August 10, 2012. It was later pushed back by a week to August 17, 2012 due to Whitney Houston's death.
